Battle at the Top - Tips to play

Posted in World Golf Tour News, Game Tips at 11:51 am by Ted

On the second day we had our first sub 100 score posted by TAYLRT with a 94.53, who went in to the closing of the day with the lead.  However on the 3rd day MFR821 posted commanding 85.35 to take over the lead.  These guys are posting incredible scores and they are a testimony to that fact that practice makes perfect.

Here are some tips on how you can improve your game:

  • use the space bar to zoom into the green to more accurately aim your shot.
  • while zoomed in, look at the green and see where it slopes
  • aiming for the flag is not always the best, let the ball roll to the hole
  • use the “s” key to control where the ball is placed in your stance
  • the further up the ball is to your front foot, more reverse spin and height is achieved
  • swinging 100% is not always your best bet, club up and take an easier swing
  • the less power you swing with the larger the sweet spot and easier it is to time the hit.
  • avoid the water :)

The best score is something like 54 - two holes in one. Do you not think something is up with that? at the speed the swing meter goes at i find it hard to believe a score like that is achievable without some kind of outside interference. or am i a sore loser!?

Believe it or not, with the time some people spend playing the game, anything is possible. During our last tournament we had one player make over 30 holes-in-one during a four week period. I know he played thousands and thousands of games. Once you play each hole enough you will learn the precise position for the swing meter and you will know how the ball will roll on the green. I don’t think two holes-in-one is out of the question during a round. As we begin to roll out full courses, the game will become much harder!! Thanks for your comments.

has anyone noticed that the swing control is faster and more erratic once you are a registered user? it is more controllable before you register…what’s up with that?

Not so much a tip, but a funny replay some might enjoy (OK, let’s call it a tip on how NOT to get a no-bounce hole in one). Find it under my login - Slicemeister - then go to “replays”, and look for the 4th one down the list… view it from camera angle #2 or #4. :)

Perhaps the ironic thing is that this exact same event happened to me in real life once, too, but a little closer in (maybe about 50 yds).

Enjoy, it’s good for a chuckle.
