Sneak Peek at Kiawah Island Ocean Course

Posted in World Golf Tour News at 6:17 pm by rich

We want to give all of our World Golf Tour players a quick sneak-peak at our upcoming course: The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island in South Carolina. We have been busy photographing and recording the course over the past several weeks…it is an amazing course! Look for this beautiful and challenging course to go live on the World Golf Tour in 2008.

Also, we will be conducting the drawing for the October prize winners this week. We will email each of the winners later this week. Keep a lookout for an email from us!

This is getting monotonous. Make some different courses or at least different angles!

Justin, our current beta version is a closest to the pin contest only. Our first full version coming out later this year will be a full 18-hole course (Kiawah Island Ocean Course) and will contain putting, driving, chipping…etc. We will also be releasing many more real-world courses such as Pinehurst #2 and #8, Seapines Harbour Town and many more big names.

How about putting TPC at Sawgrass on there? :)

We will definitely be in touch with TPC Sawgrass in the future. As most golfers know, there is no shortage of beautiful and challenging courses to play!

Agreed! Easier said than done of course! Very impressive thus far. Would love to see this realism in a real golf simulator one day!

Just recently joined and look foward to playing the Kiawah Island course. Several years ago I played online golf through PGA Tour golf/Sierra Sports. It was a blast and very addictive. After purchasing the game there was no cost to play online against people from all over the world. The graphics were nothing to write home about but it was very competitive and most enjoyable.
When playing WGT, will we be able to play with other players and send messages ? What do you expect the fees to be for playing the different courses ? Is there an expected timeframe for a release date ?

Please check out the Sand Hills Golf Club in Nebraska. http://www.sandhillsgolfshop.com/About_SHGC.html
It’s a beautiful links style course by Ben Crenshaw. I’d like to see some courses that HAVEN’T been done by every other golf sim already.

    GREAT game,
    Thanks!

Why does it take so long to load (the game)?

Lpost, I’ll contact you directly about your issue. It shouldn’t take long to load the game.

This shot at Kiawah does look sick. I have played the course about many times from the tips and I will say the 17th hole looks alot tougher from the from the back into the prevailing 15+mph wind that blows in the afternoons : )

would like ability to re-play a hole instead of having to restart.

I agree with SpaceGhost, this has the feel of Links LS. Very fun game, can’t wait for the full version. Thanks WGT.

Anyone wondering with the cost will be to play the full on game? Subscription or ongoing fees would be a drag.

I currently have a score of 85 and I’m happy with that, but I would love the ability to play single holes (#2 & 8 come to mind).

I would definitely pay for this game, but I would not pay for a monthly subscription.

I’ll try to answer many of the questions asked on this thread:

Our full version of the game will be coming out this summer. You will be able to play our courses for free and at any time. 90% of our content will always be free. You will be able to play with your friends in a foursome and be able to communicate with them while you are playing.

We will also hold some tournaments that will require an entry fee if you want to compete. You will be able to win real money in these tournaments. We will have tiers (ie. handicaps) so you will be able to compete against other players with similar skill. We will also have free tournaments much like we have now where real prizes will be given away.

We have heard from many people about allowing one mulligan per round or being able to practice a hole. We are looking into that now.

    Thanks!

Where can I play “Kiawah Island Ocean Course”? Is it out yet? Should I be a paid member to play this. Currently, I am just a free member and I get to play just the “Bali Hai Golf Club” game.

I love playing your game, Thanks so much.

    Hi Krishna,

We are currently beta-testing the new course. It is a closed beta right now, so it is only available by invitation. Hang tight, we are almost there! Thanks,

    Alex
