The Masters and WGT

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:47 pm by Ted

So I’m here at work trying to focus making sure we get you some incredible features in the next product release. But I can’t help but go back to masters.org and check the score.  Guess what I stumbled on while I’m on their site…  The guys in Augusta want “you to submit your ideas on how to get people playing, watching and talking about golf”.  Well guess what… WGT would love to shoot Augusta and bring it to your home PC for play with your friends and family.  So if you want to help us get Augusta excited about WGT go to this link and tell them your opinion  http://www.masters.org/ggw/en/index.html

    Ted:

Many of us at Stanford would be willing to pay greens fees to play the Masters on World Golf Tour. Many of those I have polled would be willing to pony up $12-15 per 18 hole round. Also, on the live version, will we be able to bet against people we dont know by some sort of Paypal system?

    Debbie:

that is great to hear… so get your friends and post on masters.org.  Let’s aim for 50 posts on Masters.org by the end of the weekend.

As for betting, we don’t currently have any plans for this.

Well, I posted my request at the masters.org suggestion page yesterday and I’m waiting for their approval to display the post.

Good luck. Augusta National has not allowed their course to be included on ANYTHING. Not on Golf video games, golf simulators, Sky Caddy…NOTHING. And you know what? I think that’s fantastic. The members there have no concerns over money and aren’t going to pimp out their course for any amount of it.

You are absolutely correct Brad! However, I, like most mere mortals, will never have a chance of playing Augusta National IRL. Allowing a developer like WGT to create a rendition of the course would give us a “virtual taste” of The Masters Tournament and Hootie could even give the licensing fees to charity.

Provided WGT could make up a course using publically available info such as satellite photos and GPS data (if available somewhere) Augusta couldn’t say much about it though you might have to name it something else.

Woods choked. Shocking. It’s been my feeling that PGA instituted it’s drug policy due to his (and maybe 2 or 3 other players) bulking up. His utter lack of aggression in this years Masters seemed very telling. It’s a shame that Snedeker crapped out coming down the stretch. -Rod-

Before talking about Augusta - how about getting 1 course done first.

    “Woods choked”…

I love this! A guy goes out, plays a miserable game, can’t sink a putt, turns out he has a serious knee issue, and he takes second at the frigging Masters.

    We do love our superstars…

It is pretty amazing that 2nd at the masters is a bad day for him.

There is a prominent VC on Sand Hill who is a member at Augusta. Has he played the online game?
