Now that the Olympics are upon us, calls are again being made to have golf accepted as an official Olympic sport. WGT, of course, loves the idea of golf in the Olympics, and has partnered with GGL Global Gaming to be a part of the 2008 Digital Games. In doing so, we hope to bring golf to the masses and give people an opportunity to experience a game (and course!) they might otherwise not have the chance to in real life. As we approach WGT’s debut of The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, our film crew is already busy photographing our next course, Pinehurst Course No. 8 in North Carolina. Below are some behind-the-scenes photos of our crew shooting from a helicopter so tiny it fits on the cart path!
The 2008 World Series of Golf event, which WGT sponsored, has concluded and registration for the 2009 tournament is now open. What’s really got us excited, however, is the World Series of Golf game format on WGT that is slated for release in late 2009. Go to wsgonline.com to see a demo and tutorial, which will also give you a sneak peek at the new Kiawah Island Ocean Course that we are putting the finishing touches on.
WGT is a proud sponsor of the 2008 World Series of Golf in Las Vegas, and a couple of us got to go and experience the fun. In case you are unfamiliar with the event, it’s an amateur-only tournament that has been described as “the texas hold ‘em of golf”. Players ante on each tee, and the player who wins all the money from the other players in his group advances to the next round.

Lorena Ochoa is an inspiration to us not only because she’s the best female golfer in the world, but also because she’s real. An accomplished athlete and budding philanthropist, she is known to be humble, caring, and generous. That is why we are cheering her on this week as she attempts to tie the LPGA record of five consecutive wins at the SemGroup Championship in Oklahoma.
As female golfers gain recognition and respect—Ms. Ochoa became the first woman to earn more than $4 million in one season—interest in the game is growing ever more quickly among women. Many of you have asked us for female avatars in WGT, so we wanted to give you a preview of one that will be available in our next release. Below is one of three different outfits you will be able to choose from, modeled on one of three different face/body combinations.
